CSX River Line Tie Replacement
Milepost 13, Dumont, NJ.
March 25, 2007
With a small army of machinery, tie gang T-5 arrives!
First, a spike puller removes the spikes out of the ties that have been marked for replacement.
Next the tie plates are shaken loose and kicked to the side.
With the tie plates and spikes gone, the old ties are removed with this hydaulic powered tie remover.
Workers recover the tie plates, which will still be used on the new ties.
The old ties are kicked to the side while the replacements are readied for installation.
